  i want as much data as possible on the effect of the internet on the time captured by the cult.. please answer the three following questions about yourself or about someone you know (for example, if your parents or grandparents were jw's and left).

  If death is a natural occurrence in the human species, why are we born with the innate feeling to continue living indefinitely?

  there are some people that do in fact want to die.

  these people include the mentally unstable, emotionally imbalanced, and those suffering from ailments or diseases, just to name a few.. i've never met however, anyone, or heard of anyone, who is of sound mind, who just awoke one day and thought it would be an excellent day to die......naturally.. your thoughts?.

  • Human desire to live another day = evidence we are meant to live forever?
  • Human tendency to kill humans from competing groups = ?
  • Human tendency to not be monogamous for life = ?

  Well the solution is easy of course. The latter two can be ascribed to our sinful state!

  Those are not evidence of what perfect humans are really like.

  And thus anything that contradicts our precious theology is reasoned away....

  Why is there only one common ancestor? Why is there no evidence of other "common ancestors" which were not as successful? Was there no competition to be the "first" common ancestor?

  In 2010, based on "the vast array of molecular sequences now available from all domains of life," a formal test of universal common ancestry was published. The formal test favored the existence of a universal common ancestor over a wide class of alternative hypotheses that included horizontal gene transfer. While the formal test overwhelmingly favored the existence of a single LUA, this does not imply that the LUA was ever alone. Instead, it was a member of the early microbial community.

  These lines of chemical evidence, taken into account for the formal statistical test by Theobald (2010), point to a single cell having been the LUA in that, although it was a member of the early microbial community, only its descendents survived beyond the Paleoarchean Era.

  i think how much emphasis this puts on "loyalty" shows their is an issue.

  they're trying to plug the wholes as much and quickly as possible.

  On the bright side: have you ever noticed that when you say or hear the same word many many times, it will lose it's meaning and just become an odd sound?

  JW's will not even know that 'loyalty' is a word after this convention...

  an elder came over for a visit the other night (he couldn't get a partner) personally i consider him a friend and have revieiled many things to him an figured the tie has come to step out of this religion slowly.. well i finally told him i have no believe in the bible (other then the confirmed history in it) or god.

  i did it slowly and tactfully and even non-agressive.. his response to learning i believe in evolution was that evolution doesn't happen now i respectfully disagreed and pointed out lactose and alcohol tolerance among the last thousand years as well as tibetian lung/hearts.

  he refused to believe it.

  The full text clearly states that this previous position of not begging is more than a century old!
  Can't apply that to 2016!

  2016 Memorial Done & Dusted

  well on this side of the planet, the southern hemisphere/ new zealand, the 2016 memorial service in local kingdom halls will be over for another year.

  another great big anticlimax.

  some family and relatives will have gone - but unless i ask my sister, i generally have no idea about attendance and partaker numbers.

  it's the forum's 16th birthday today!.

  amazing that not only have we lasted so long but we're still thriving and growing.. thanks to all the people and often colorful characters who've contributed to the site over the years.

  some are still here with us, some have since moved on, but all have touched each others lives in some way along our different journeys.. .
